Spring Fishin' At Wehr's Dam ...

“Well now, take down your fishin’ pole and meet me at The Fishin’ Hole,
We may not get a bite all day, but don’t you rush away.

What a great place to rest your bones and mighty fine for skippin’ stones,
You’ll feel fresh as a lemonade, a-settin’ in the shade.

Whether it’s hot, whether it’s cool, oh what a spot for
whistlin’ like a fool.

What a fine day to take a stroll and wander by The Fishin’ Hole,
I can’t think of a better way to pass the time o’day.

We have no need to call the roll when we get to The Fishin’ Hole,
There’ll be you, me, and Old Dog Trey, to doodle time away.

If we don’t hook a perch or bass, we’ll cool our toes in dewey grass,
Or else pull up a weed to chaw, and maybe set and jaw.

Hangin’ around, takin’ our ease,
Watchin’ that hound a-scratchin’ at his fleas.

C’mon, take down your fishin’ pole and meet me at The Fishin’ Hole,
I can’t think of a better way to pass the time o’day.”
  ~ “The Fishin’ Hole”
~music by Earle Hagen & Herbert Spencer,
  ~ lyrics by Everett Sloane
~ theme song to the iconic “The Andy Griffith Show”
   ~ 1960-1968
~ though the show used the whistlin’ instrumental version, there were lyrics
that were recorded by Griffith himself.

A man goes fishin’ amid the beauty of a mid-May spring evening as the waters of the Jordan Creek spill over Wehr’s Dam to then flow beneath Wehr’s Covered Bridge.

The dam, built in 1904, is next to Wehr’s Covered Bridge, which dates back to 1841, at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania.

Seagulls At The Forks Of The Delaware ...

“The gull sees farthest who flies highest.”
  ~ from “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”
     ~ 1970
   ~ by Richard Bach
     ~ born 1936
One seagull sails in for a landing as the rest soak up the late winter sunshine on a March afternoon at the Forks of the Delaware, the confluence of the Lehigh and Delaware Rivers where Easton, Pennsylvania and Phillipsburg, New Jersey, meet. I shot this near Delaware Canal State Park, Easton near the Forks of the Delaware Trailhead of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (D&L Trail). The Forks of the Delaware is where the Lehigh River merges into the Delaware River.

The trail is positioned between the Delaware River and Delaware Canal, which was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1978. The site possesses national significance in commemorating the history of the United States of America.

Running from Wilkes-Barre to Bristol, the D&L Trail passes through the Lehigh and Delaware rivers and their canals in Pennsylvania.
