Miles To Go ...

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”
                                Robert Frost
                                      ~ 1884-1963
~ Four Time Pulitzer Prize Winner
~ “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”
                          ~ 1923
There are miles yet to go on a snowy trail by the Jordan Creek that highlights winter’s beauty at Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, Pennsylvania on a January afternoon soon after the historic Blizzard of 2016.

In a winter shorn of snow until the blizzard, the storm plonked 31 inches of snow on nearby Allentown in a 24 hour period.

Freedom Takes Wing ...

"Freedom lies in being bold."
                            ~ Robert Frost
                              ~ 1874-1963
~ Poet Laureate of the United States
                                 ~ 1958-1959

Like a Phoenix rising, the new Oculus sculpture
that tops the World Trade Center Transportation
Hub in Lower Manhattan, near the Memorial
Pools, brings to mind bold, inspiring wings
of freedom on a sunsplashed April day
in New York City.

The sculpture is the creation of Spanish
architect Santiago Calatrava.

A Winter's Trail ...

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
                  ~ "The Road Not Taken,"
                                                      ~ Robert Frost

Walking the wintry trail today at Lehigh Parkway, Allentown, Pennsylvania
brought to mind the famous words of Robert Frost in "The Road Not Taken."

Softly Comes The Winter ...

" The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."
                                   ~ Robert Frost

The springhouse in Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania
isn't exactly in the woods but looks like it could be on this
December afternoon.
This log cabin was part of the summer estate of General Harry C. Trexler
(1854-1933), an American industrialist who built a business empire
in Allentown. The park is his namesake.
