Springhouse In A Twilight Snowfall ...

“For how can one know color in perpetual green, and what good is warmth without cold to  give it sweetness?”

   ~ John Steinbeck

    ~ 1902-1968

The Springhouse is nestled in winter’s beauty at the start of a late January snowfall in this painterly, HDR image I captured as twilight fell upon Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The log cabin was part of Springhouse, the summer home of General Harry Clay Trexler (1854-1933), an American industrialist who built a business empire in Allentown. The park is his namesake.

Little Parson Brown ...

“… In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say, are you married?
We’ll say, no man
But you can do the job
When you’re in town …”
                ~ “Winter Wonderland”
        ~ music by Felix Bernard,
              lyrics by Richard B. Smith
                             ~ 1934
“Winter Wonderland” is a winter song, popularly regarded as a Christmas song. Through the decades it has been recorded by over 200 different artists.

Just like a Little Parson Brown, this miniature snowman that I saw a little boy make sits in front of the Springhouse on one of the stone bridges at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania on November 17, 2018, two days after the season’s first snowfall. The pre-Thanksgiving snowfall blanketed the region with eight inches of snow.

I presented the image in sepia to enhance the nostalgic feel.

Snowed In Nostalgia ...

“I love the nostalgic myself. I hope we never lose some of the things of the past.”
                                ~ Walt Disney
                                     ~ 1901-1966
Nostalgia is nestled in the snow in my sepia capture of the Springhouse at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Spring is just around the corner but there is still snow on the ground from a mid-March blizzard on this late winter day.

Snow Day ...

“Silently, like thoughts that come and go,
The snowflakes fall, each one a gem.”
                     ~ William Hamilton Gibson
                                      ~ 1850-1896
           ~American illustrator, author & naturalist

It’s a quintessential snow day as snowflakes tumble around the Springhouse at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

I shot this scene brimming with winter’s quiet beauty during a light January snowfall.
