Hope is colored in pink on this painted rock I spotted during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in early October at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

This painted rock is likely part of the The Kindness Rocks Project, which was founded by Megan Murphy of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, who wanted to spread encouraging messages to strangers by writing them on rocks she found on the beach. The practice spread and launched similar projects across the United States.

The grassroots project encourages people to leave rocks painted with inspiring messages along the path of life. People are encouraged to take one, share one or add to the pile. “Love One Another” is proclaimed on a banner in front of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Belvidere, New Jersey, on a beautiful mid-October afternoon.

A Delaware River Town, Belvidere, one of my very favorite places, was established April 7, 1845 and is a charming Victorian town located on the banks of the Pequest and Delaware Rivers. The town’s name means “beautiful to see” in Italian.

 

Wild Is The Sun ...

Shining with a wild beauty – looking more like the moon than the sun – the orange-tinged sun holds court in a hazy, milky sky over Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania on September 15, 2020.

Wildfire smoke from the West Coast caused the sky to appear as it did as sunset neared in the waning summer. Since the smoke was at the altitude where planes fly – around 30,000 feet – it could be seen but people could not smell it, and there were no air quality issues.
