Window To Friendship ...

“You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you.
You have to go to them sometimes.”
                            ~ A.A. Milne
                                 ~ 1882-1956
                      ~from “Winnie-the-Pooh”
                       ~ published October 14, 1926
Adorable cottontail rabbit and chipmunk eye each other as they meet for what may well be the first time as they scurry for food on a summer evening at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

“Winnie-the-Pooh” has always been a favorite of mine since childhood, and the words of A.A. Milne sprang to my mind at this sweet peek into wildlife.

First Mate ...

"People let me tell you 'bout my best friend ..."

                                         ~ "Best Friend"
                                           ~by Harry Nilsson
~ "Theme Song of The Courtship of Eddie's Father"
                                                                                      ~ 1969-1972

A man and his furry first mate set out in a small kayak
on a perfect summer day at Leaser Lake,
in the shadow of the northern Blue Mountain Ridge,
New Tripoli, Pennsylvania.
The sight of this man and his adorable dog - both in life jackets -
brings to life the words of that iconic song, "Best Friend."

Leaser Lake's namesake is Frederick Leaser, who in September 1777
with his farm team hauled The Liberty Bell from
Philadelphia to Allentown where it was concealed in
Zion Reformed Church. His homestead is located one mile north of the lake.

A man and his dog enjoy friendship, solitude
and the crisp winter air while running on
the Covered Bridge Trail at Trexler Nature Preserve,
Schnecksville, Pennsylvania.

Solitude With A Friend

"Don't walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend."
                  ~ Albert Camus
                                 ~1913-1960

A man and his dog walking recently in the freshly fallen snow at Lehigh Parkway, Allentown, Pennsylvania speaks volumes about
friendship on a quiet winter day.
