Great Blue September ...
“Man’s
heart away from nature becomes hard.”
~ Luther
Standing Bear
~ 1868-1939
A
Great Blue Heron seems to pose for a portrait while perched at Wehr’s Dam as it
peers into the waters of the Jordan Creek on a late September afternoon.
The
dam, built in 1904, is next to Wehr’s Covered Bridge, which dates back to 1841,
at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania.

Cut, Color And Roll ...
“
… Well I said shake, rattle and roll
I
said shake, rattle and roll …”
“Shake, Rattle and Roll”
~ written in 1954 by
Jesse Stone (1901-1999) under his assumed songwriting name Charles E. Calhoun
~ recorded by the great
Elvis Presley
~1956
Strolling
through Belvidere, New Jersey on a rare warm February afternoon, I came across
this cool sign for Dee’s Doos Hair Salon. Elvis Presley sang about “Shake,
Rattle and Roll,” but at Dee’s I believe the slogan would be “Cut, Color and
Roll!”
Belvidere,
one of my very favorite places, is a charming Victorian town located on the
banks of the Pequest and Delaware Rivers.
