The First Snowfall ...

“Oh the first snowfall of the winter
Was a day that we all waited for …

Oh the first snowfall of the winter
Jingle bells wove their spells ever dear
Under wintry skies of gray
It was snowing hard all day
And it showed no signs of stoppin …

On the first snowfall of the winter
Oh, that first snowfall of the year …”
          ~ “The First Snowfall”
                   ~ written by
Paul Francis Webster & Sonny Burke
~ recorded by the wonderful Bing Crosby
                 on November 22, 1955
~ Crosby was the first popular singer
                  to record Christmas songs.
All is quiet as the snow softly continues to fall as sunset draws near during the first snowfall of the season at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Though the first snow fell December 9, 2017, a few weeks before the official beginning of winter, it blanketed the late autumn landscape with the hushed beauty of winter.

All Too Soon ...

“All too soon we had to part
The moment you had touched my heart
And with you went my dream
All too soon …

You should know as well as I
Our love deserves another try
For you whispered goodbye
All too soon
Too soon”
                     ~ “All Too Soon”
            ~ 1940 song composed
by Duke Ellington, lyrics by Carl Sigman,
     recorded by other artists including
               Ella Fitzgerald

After rare warm February temperatures, this daffodil bloomed all too soon at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania, then whispers goodbye as it wilts all too soon after a March snowfall.

Daffodil, Jonquil, Narcissus … whatever name you choose, it’s beauty is gone all too soon about a week before spring is set to bloom.
