                            ~ published 1948
Evoking a beguiling sense of mystery, the mist rises over the creek on a warm summer evening at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Daisies Don't Tell ...

“If you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for a moment.”
                         ~ Georgia O'Keeffe
                                    ~ 1887-1986
The popular 1950s catchphrase says “Daisies Don’t Tell,”  but this lone wild daisy along the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (D&L Trail), Slatington, Pennsylvania speaks of spring with its sweet and simple beauty on a May afternoon.

Running from Wilkes-Barre to Bristol, the D&L Trail passes through the Lehigh and Delaware rivers and their canals in Pennsylvania.

Slatington, established in 1864, is the designated Blackboard Capital of America.

Background texture by Jai Johnson added for artistic effect.

Color Tide ...

"First the tide rushes in
Plants a kiss on the shore ...
So I rush to your side
Like the incoming tide ..."

                                     ~ "Ebb Tide"
                                                      ~ Carl Sigman, lyricist
                                                      ~ Robert Maxwell, composer
                                                                              ~ 1953

The morning sun sweeps and swirls the colors of
October like a dream in a crest of the
Little Lehigh Creek, Lehigh Parkway, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

In The Fire Of Spring ...

"May this tenderness cling
When the fire of spring
Is a memory
May you still be my own
When a hundred years have flown ...
Love me tonight."
                                    ~ "Love Me Tonight"
~words & music by Don Robertson
from the film "Fun In Acapulco"
         ~ recorded by the great
                           Elvis Presley, 1963

A beautiful blossom and breaking bud are in tandem in the fire of spring as the April sun sets on my favorite magnolia tree at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Evening Kiss ...

"April love ...
Every star's a wishing star that shines for you,
April love is all the seven wonders,
One little kiss can tell you this is true."

                    ~ "April Love"
~Theme song from the 1957 film "April Love"
              ~ Music by Sammy Fain,
                lyrics by Paul Francis Webster
                    ~ Recorded by Pat Boone

Sunset light kisses this beautiful breaking bud
on my favorite magnolia tree on a beautiful

Retro Valentine ...

"Wise men say
Only fools rush in
But I can't help
falling in love with you."
~ "Can't Help Falling In Love"
~ from Elvis Presley's 1961 movie "Blue Hawaii"

You can almost hear a nearby jukebox playing
the great Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love"
as you and your sweetie share a shake with two straws
in this Retro Valentine.

I'll Remember You ...

"I'll remember you ...
To your arms someday I'll return to stay...
Love me always, promise always
Oooh, you'll remember too,
I'll remember you."
                "I'll Remember You"
~ written by Kui Lee, 1964
~ recorded by Elvis Presley, 1966

Flares of a December sunset over a field
in Orefield, Pennsylvania echo in my mind
like the beautiful song "I'll Remember You,"
written by Kui Lee in 1964 and recorded by
the great Elvis Presley in 1966.

Gentle On My Mind ...

"...You're waiting from the backroads
by the rivers of my memories,
ever smilin'
ever gentle on my mind."
              ~ "Gentle On My Mind,"
                             ~ 1967

The words from that wonderful song seem to fill the air on a May afternoon at Manassas Guth Covered Bridge as it crosses the Jordan Creek.

The historic wooden covered bridge
in South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania was constructed in 1858 and rebuilt in 1882. It is a 108 foot long Burr Truss bridge with vertical siding. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
