Summer At The Creek ...

The Bushkill Creek reflects summer’s beauty on a late June afternoon at Jacobsburg State Park, which spans between Wind Gap and Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

At Jacobsburg State Park, Henry’s Woods offers very scenic hikes and the rest of the center grounds have multi-use trails.

The park offers environmental education programs from the preschool environmental awareness programs to high school level environmental problem solving programs, historical programs, teacher workshops and public interpretive programs.

The park surrounds the Bushkill Creek.

The original land for the center was purchased by the Department of Forests and Waters from the City of Easton in 1959. In 1969, additional land was purchased using funds from Project 70. This brought the total land area of the center to its present size of 1,168 acres.

Rising Mist Under Bogert's Bridge ...

Evoking a beguiling sense of mystery, the summer mist rises from the Little Lehigh Creek under Bogert’s Covered Bridge on a warm late August evening at Lehigh Parkway, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Bogert’s Covered Bridge spans 145 feet over the Little Lehigh Creek.

Built in 1841, its history traces back to the mid-1700s when the Bogert family moved into a log cabin next to the future site of the bridge. It is the oldest covered bridge in Lehigh County and among the oldest in the country. It is open only to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, as well as the occasional rider on horseback.

Bogert’s Covered Bridge is a wooden Burr Truss bridge with vertical plank siding and a gable roof. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

As the summer wanes, a couple ford the Jordan Creek by motorcycle on a beautiful early September evening at Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, Pennsylvania in this selective color shot.

For more than 50 years kids and kids at heart have enjoyed driving through the creek.

The ford at the preserve is one of my very favorite places to be and to photograph.
