Ballad Of Autumn Video ...

The legendary Bobby Darin's beautiful version
of the wistful "Try To Remember" from the
1960 musical "The Fantasticks" sets the mood
for this celebration of autumn showcased in
my original photos.

My greatest joy as a photographer is harmonizing
my favorite original photos to music to create a
lingering snapshot of the season. Enjoy!

Autumn Cascade ...

"The music of the far-away summer
flutters around the autumn
seeking its former nest."
                       ~ Rabindranath Tagore
                                ~ 1861-1941

Autumn cascades like a capricious
melody over a small waterfall on the Pequest River on a picturesque Indian Summer day in
Belvidere, New Jersey.

The Pequest - Native American for "open land," -
tumbles down to Belvidere in a series of falls,
where it meets the mighty Delaware River,
of which it is a tributary.

Belvidere, one of my very favorite places,
is a charming Victorian town on the banks
of the Pequest and Delaware Rivers.

Indian Summer On The Delaware ...

"Each golden day was cherished to the full,

for one had the feeling that each must be the last.

Tommorrow it would be winter."

                                             ~ author Elizabeth Enright

                                                              ~ 1907-1968

Indian Summer is my most favorite of seasons with it's warm
golden days and crisp evenings ... the best of both worlds.
And it was a quintessential Indian Summer day in early November
when I shot this beautiful vista of the Delaware River
from the Riverton-Belvidere Toll Supported Bridge.
The bridge, which opened in 1904, links Belvidere, New Jersey and
Riverton, Pennsylvania.

Belvidere, one of my very favorite places, is a charming Victorian town
located on the banks of the Pequest and Delaware Rivers.

On The Delaware ...

"Wrinkles should merely indicate
where smiles have been."
                               ~ Mark Twain
                                                ~ 1835-1910

When I saw this man fishing on
the Delaware River in Phillipsburg, New Jersey
on an early September evening, I wondered from his
expression what thoughts and memories were
crossing his mind. The man was fishing near
the historic Northampton Street Bridge,
commonly called The Free Bridge, which spans the
Delaware River between Phillipsburg, New Jersey
and Easton, Pennsylvania. The Free Bridge was completed in 1896
and survived the damage from massive flooding from
Hurricane Diane in 1955. It undersent a thorough
restoration in 1990.

Bridging Twilight ...

"Twilight drops her curtain down and pins it with a star."
            ~ Lucy Maud Montgomery
                   ~ 1874-1942
Twilight begins to steal across the waning summer sky like a painter of dreams over Easton, Pennsylvania as viewed from across
the Delaware River in Phillipsburg, New Jersey next to the historic Northampton Street Bridge, commonly called The Free Bridge.

The bridge that spans the states was completed in 1896 and survived damage from massive flooding from Hurricane Diane in 1955. It underwent a thorough restoration in 1990, and is one of my very favorite places to photograph.

Bridging Sunset ...

"Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses,
which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus."

                       ~1803-1882

Little Pink Houses ...

"Oh, but ain't that America
For you and me
Ain't that America
Something to see, baby
Ain't that America
Home of the free, yeah
Little pink houses
For you and me
Oooh, yeah
For you and me."
                       ~ "Pink Houses"
                                       ~ John Cougar Mellencamp

The  1983 John Cougar Mellencamp song "Pink Houses" popped
into my mind when I saw this charming house bedecked for
St. Patrick's Day in Belvidere, New Jersey last weekend.

Victorian Charm

"What I like about black and white photographs
is that they're more like reading the book then seeing the movie."
                                                           ~Author Unknown

The historic Hotel Belvidere, built in 1831, is located in the quaint, scenic town of Belvidere, New Jersey. Belvidere is a charming Victorian town I visited this weekend, located on the banks of the Pequest and Delaware Rivers.

George Washington traveled through Belvidere at 10 a.m. July 26, 1872 when he camped at Morristown.

A view of South Main Street in the historic downtown of  Phillipsburg, New Jersey. At right is SS. Philip and James Roman Catholic Church. The cornerstone was laid in 1860 and the present edifice completed in 1889.
