Doe In The Spring Snow ...

"Born free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart ...
Live free and beauty surrounds you ...
Stay free, where no walls divide you ...
Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'Cause you're born free."
                               ~ "Born Free"
~title song of the 1966 film
~Music by John Barry, Lyrics by Don Black

Beautiful and free white-tailed deer doe
steps spritely through the spring snow in the park
as the grass peeks through what remains of winter
during a March sunset.

I've been blessed to photograph this doe and her fawns since 2012, and it's a true joy to me personally and as a photographer.

Song Of The Early Spring ...

"...Who made the flowers to bloom in the spring
Who made the song for the robins to sing
And who hung the moon in the starry sky
Somebody bigger than you and I ..."
~ "Somebody Bigger Than You and I"
written by Johnny Lange, Hy Heath & Sonny Burke
~recorded by the great Elvis Presley
                                                    ~ 1967

A robin sings its beautiful song in the early spring at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

This painterly capture of a sweet robin in March
epitomizes the line in my most favorite Gospel hymn, the beautiful "Somebody Bigger Than You And I," recorded by the great Elvis Presley in 1967.

Swan Of A Spring Morn ...

"The swan, like the soul of a poet,
By the dull world is ill understood."

Dreams Come To Light ...

your heart dreams of spring."

The Winter's Day ...

"Land really is the best art."
                     ~ Andy Warhol
                            ~ 1928-1987

The day all winters dream to be paints itself around the Springhouse at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Icicles fringe the roof of the log cabin surrounded by a fresh March snowfall, blazing blue skies and bright sunshine.

It's one of my very favorite places to be and to photograph.

The log  cabin was part of Springhouse, the summer home of General Harry C. Trexler (1854-1933), an American industrialist who  built a business empire in Allentown. The park is his namesake.

spring is near at Trexler Memorial Park,
Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Path To Remembrance...

"When it hurts to look back,
And you are afraid to look forward,
Look beside you ...
I will be there."

Sentimental thoughts swirl amidst
a fresh March snowfall on my favorite path
at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Time like dew on the tip of a leaf."

Spanning ...

"Winter makes a bridge between one year and another
and, in this case, one century and the next."
                                                        ~ Andy Goldsworthy

A recent view of the historic Northampton Street Bridge, commonly called
The Free Bridge, looking toward Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The bridge
spans the Delaware River between Phillipsburg and Easton, Pennsylvania.
The Free Bridge was completed in 1896 and survived the massive flooding
of Hurricane Diane in 1955. It underwent a thorough restoration in 1990.

Little Pink Houses ...

"Oh, but ain't that America
For you and me
Ain't that America
Something to see, baby
Ain't that America
Home of the free, yeah
Little pink houses
For you and me
Oooh, yeah
For you and me."
                       ~ "Pink Houses"
                                       ~ John Cougar Mellencamp

The  1983 John Cougar Mellencamp song "Pink Houses" popped
into my mind when I saw this charming house bedecked for
St. Patrick's Day in Belvidere, New Jersey last weekend.
Belvidere is a charming Victorian town located on the banks
of the Pequest and Delaware Rivers.

We can only express the light we have in ourselves."

Victorian Charm

"What I like about black and white photographs
is that they're more like reading the book then seeing the movie."
                                                           ~Author Unknown

The historic Hotel Belvidere, built in 1831, is located in the quaint, scenic town of Belvidere, New Jersey. Belvidere is a charming Victorian town I visited this weekend, located on the banks of the Pequest and Delaware Rivers.

George Washington traveled through Belvidere at 10 a.m. July 26, 1872 when he camped at Morristown.

The Snapshot ...

"So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?"
                                        ~ "Times of Your Life"
                                                              ~ Paul Anka

When I snapped this candid shot recently at Trexler Memorial Park,
Allentown, Pennsylvania, it reminded me of Paul Anka's 1975 song
used as the theme of Kodak commercials.
