The Frosting ...

"Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art."
              ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
                          ~ 1803-1882

In the shadow of the northern Blue Mountain Ridge, a frosted, frozen
and snow covered Leaser Lake glistens with winter's artistry.
I really enjoyed being able to actually walk on the lake and take photos!

The lake in New Tripoli, Pennsylvania is named for Frederick Leaser, who in September 1777 with his farm team hauled The Liberty Bell from
Philadelphia to Allentown where it was concealed in Zion Reformed Church.

His homestead is located one mile north of the lake.

Fire Of The Frost ...

"It is the life of the crystal,
 the architect of the flake,
 the fire of the frost,
 the soul of the sunbeam,
This crisp winter air is full of it."
                             ~ John Burroughs
                                   ~ 1837-1921
                               ~ "Winter Sunshine"
                                                    ~ 1875

An artistic view of leaves frozen in a chunk of ice in January at Wehr's Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania reminded me of the line penned by John Burroughs.

Crystal Blue Persuasion ...

"Better get ready to see the light,
Love, love is the answer,
Ooh, ooh and that's all right."
                                        ~ "Crystal Blue Persuasion"

Leaves frozen in this chunk of ice recently at Wehr's Covered Bridge Park,
Orefield, Pennsylvania brought to mind the 1969 song originally recorded
by Tommy James and the Shondells, composed by Eddie Gray,
Tommy James and Mike Vale.

Sugared Canvas

"Snow on one side of the canvas, silence on the other.
I'd call that a perfect painting." ~ Jarod Kintz

The snow covered pond at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania looks
as if it were dusted with sugar on a December afternoon.
