Silvered Shores ...

“… Silver-white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things …”
                  ~ “My Favorite Things”
      ~ from the 1959 Rodgers & Hammerstein
           musical "The Sound Of Music"

A hint of sunset blushes the creek between its silvered shores after a fresh snowfall at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

This beauty will eventually melt into spring, but for now the silver-white winter lingers to paint a quiet, majestic beauty.

Sunshine On The Water ...

“Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, sunshine in my eyes can make me cry.
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely, sunshine almost always makes me high.
If I had a day that I could give you, I’d give to you the day just like today.
If I had a song that I could sing for you, I’d sing a song to make you feel this way …

If I had a tale that I could tell you, I’d tell a tale sure to make you smile.
If I had a wish that I could wish for you, I’d make a wish for sunshine all the while …

Sunshine on the water looks so lovely, sunshine almost always makes me high.”

                 ~ “Sunshine On My Shoulders”
             ~ recorded & co-written by John Denver
                            ~ 1973

The summer was waning but its special beauty still shone through on an early September afternoon when I saw this sunflower bloom gently floating and reflecting in the creek at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Two other sunflower blooms were floating nearby, and John Denver's beautiful  “Sunshine On My Shoulders” immediately sprang to my thoughts, with its wonderful lyrics – isn’t this what we’d all want to give those we love?

Indeed, sunshine on the water looks so lovely.

Dancing In The Mirror ...

"There are two ways of spreading light:
to be the candle or the mirror
that reflects it."
                    ~ Edith Wharton
                                   ~ 1862-1937

The light of a waning winter sunset
dances as it is mirrored in the waters
spilling over a crest of the
Little Lehigh Creek in Lehigh Parkway,
Allentown, Pennsylvania.

January On The Jordan ...

"I saw that my life was a vast glowing empty
page and I could do anything I wanted."
                            ~ Jack Kerouac
                                ~ 1922-1969

The light of approaching sunset dances and glows on the icy waters of the Jordan Creek at
Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville,
Pennsylvania on a gorgeous winter day.

This view of the flowing creek speaks to
me of following your dreams, possibilities,
and the inspiriting words of Jack Kerouac.

I captured this scene soon after the historic
January Blizzard of 2016. In a winter shorn
of snow until the blizzard, the storm plonked
31 inches of snow on nearby Allentown
in a 24 hour period.

Frosting The Jordan ...

"In the depth of winter,

finally learned that

within me there lay an

invincible summer."

                    ~ Albert Camus

                                  ~ 1913-1960

Winter frosts the Jordan Creek into crystalized beauty as it winds it's way on a January day
through Wehr's Covered Bridge Park,
Orefield, Pennsylvania.

Sweet Summer Morn ...

"Who made the mountains,
who made the trees
Who made the rivers flow to the sea
And who sends the rain when the earth is dry
Somebody bigger than you and I ..."

~ "Somebody Bigger Than You And I"
~ Written by Johnny Lange, Hy Heath & Sonny Burke

~ Recorded by the great Elvis Presley
                                             ~ 1967

God's handiwork creates a sweet and perfect summer morning at Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, Pennsylvania.

The serenity is palpable as an adorable beagle splashes near the ford of the Jordan Creek, the only other sound the chirping of birds.

This image paints why this is one of my very favorite places to be and to photograph, and epitomizes the words of my most favorite Gospel hymn, the beautiful "Somebody Bigger Than You and I," recorded by the great Elvis Presley in 1967.

Dreams Come To Light ...

"Like the seeds dreaming beneath the snow
your heart dreams of spring."
                                       ~ Kahlil Gibran, "The Prophet"
                                                             ~ 1883-1931

The afternoon sun dances lightly over the snowy
creek after a fresh March snowfall, painting a dreamlike late winter
scene at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.
