November Comes Softly To Wehr's Dam ...

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”

              ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

                          ~1896-1940

The afternoon sun pirouettes on the waters of the Jordan Creek as they spill over Wehr’s Dam in this painterly, HDR image I shot November 1, 2021.

The Jordan Creek continues to then flow beneath Wehr’s Covered Bridge at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania.

The dam, built in 1904, is next to Wehr’s Covered Bridge, which dates back to 1841.

The boardwalk of the Jordan Creek Greenway can be seen behind the dam.

Rainspotting At Wehr's Dam ...

“Into each life some rain must fall.”

     ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

        ~ 1807-1882

I spotted this Great Blue Heron, looking amazingly small standing in the Jordan Creek at Wehr’s Dam, as an early evening rain falls on June 21, 2021 – the first full day of summer – at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania.

The boardwalk of the Jordan Creek Greenway can be seen behind the dam.

It Is All A Great Strange Dream ...

“Happiness consists in knowing it is all a great strange dream.”

                       ~ Jack Kerouac

                            ~1922-1969

A man walks his dog (hidden by grass) on a path that traipses through a field of infrared on a beautiful mid-June evening along the Jordan Creek Greenway at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania, as spring prepares to segue to summer in this abstract image.

Wintertide At Wehr's Dam ...

“Melancholy were the sounds on a winter’s night.”

      ~ Virginia Woolf

      ~ 1882-1941

Its icy beauty in infrared as winter infuses Wehr’s Dam with a frozen splendor as sunset dances cheek to cheek with twilight at the finish of a late February day. The waters of the Jordan Creek spill over the dam to then flow beneath Wehr’s Covered Bridge.

The dam, built in 1904, is next to Wehr’s Covered Bridge, which dates back to 1841, at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania.

Mergansers On The Eve Of Spring ...

“It is about five o’clock in an evening that the first hour of spring strikes ~ autumn arrives in the early morning, but spring at the close of a winter day.”

     ~ Elizabeth Bowen

      ~ Irish novelist

      ~ 1899-1973

In the waning hours of winter, these common merganser drake & hen ducks dream of the arrival of spring in the early evening of the last day of winter ~ March 19, 2021 ~ in the waters of the Jordan Creek along the Jordan Creek Greenway at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania.

The common merganser or goosander is a large seaduck of rivers and lakes in forested areas of Europe, Asia & North America. The common merganser eats fish and nests in holes in trees.
