Springhouse Of The Autumn Moon ...

“I love the autumn – that melancholy season that suits memories so well.”

                    ~ Gustave Flaubert

                       ~French novelist

                         ~1821-1860

The moon peeks over the Springhouse at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania, as dusk settles in in this painterly, HDR scene I captured on a beautiful mid-November evening.

The log cabin was part of Springhouse, the summer home of General Harry Clay Trexler (1854-1933), an American industrialist who built a business empire in Allentown. The park is his namesake.

Sweet November Surprise ...

“In all things of nature, there is something of the marvelous.”

   ~ Aristotle

   ~ 384-322 B.C.

I spotted the sweetest sight of summer – a beautiful white-tailed deer fawn – with its spots in November!

The spots on these fawns begin to fade at three to four months old, so I was very surprised to see this cutie, framed by the early evening light, on November 9, 2021 at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania. This little one must have been born a bit later than usual.

A sweet November surprise!

Kittatinny Color Pop ...

“For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity.”

     ~ Henri Cartier-Bresson

      ~French photographer

      ~1908-2004

It’s a Kittatinny color pop as evening shadows begin to fall during an early November sunset across the Kittatinny Ridge, also called Blue Mountain, in this artistic shot I captured along the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (D&L Trail) at Lehigh Gap.

The Lehigh Gap in Slatington, Pennsylvania, is a crossroads where the Lehigh Gap Nature Center’s trails connect two historic trails – the Appalachian Trail and the D&L Trail).

Running from Wilkes-Barre to Bristol, the D&L Trail passes through the Lehigh and Delaware rivers and their canals in Pennsylvania.

The Appalachian Trail, a foot path, follows the ridge on both sides of the Lehigh Gap, running 1,245 miles south to Georgia and 930 miles north to Maine.

November Comes Softly To Wehr's Dam ...

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”

              ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

                          ~1896-1940

The afternoon sun pirouettes on the waters of the Jordan Creek as they spill over Wehr’s Dam in this painterly, HDR image I shot November 1, 2021.

The Jordan Creek continues to then flow beneath Wehr’s Covered Bridge at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania.

The dam, built in 1904, is next to Wehr’s Covered Bridge, which dates back to 1841.

The boardwalk of the Jordan Creek Greenway can be seen behind the dam.
