Strawberry Moon Field ...

“Let me take you down

'Cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields

Nothing is real

And nothing to get hung about

Strawberry Fields forever …”

      ~ “Strawberry Fields Forever”

          ~ released 1967

~written by John Lennon & credited to

              Lennon-McCartney

~ John Lennon based the song on his childhood memories of playing in the garden of Strawberry Field, a Salvation Army children’s home in Liverpool.

The Super Strawberry Moon “ripens” in a beautiful field in abstract, where nothing is real.

I created this image by blending my shot of the Super Strawberry Moon holding court in the sky over the West End of Allentown, Pennsylvania in the Lehigh Valley at 10:33 p.m. June 24, 2021, with background texture by Jai Johnson for artistic effect.

This Super Strawberry Moon is the last near-Supermoon of 2021. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the name “Strawberry Moon” originated with Algonquin tribes in eastern North America, who knew the June full moon as a signal to gather ripening fruit of wild strawberries.

This Super Strawberry Moon rose just before 9 p.m. in the Lehigh Valley, about a half-hour passed sunset. It is the first full moon of summer 2021.

Rainspotting At Wehr's Dam ...

“Into each life some rain must fall.”

     ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

        ~ 1807-1882

I spotted this Great Blue Heron, looking amazingly small standing in the Jordan Creek at Wehr’s Dam, as an early evening rain falls on June 21, 2021 – the first full day of summer – at Covered Bridge Park, Orefield, Pennsylvania.

The boardwalk of the Jordan Creek Greenway can be seen behind the dam.

The waters of the Jordan Creek spill over the dam to then flow beneath Wehr’s Covered Bridge.

The dam, built in 1904, is next to Wehr’s Covered Bridge, which dates back to 1841.

Simply June At Jacobsburg ...

“One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple.”

                  ~ Jack Kerouac

                   ~ 1922-1969

A man takes in the beauty late spring has wrapped around Henry’s Woods at Jacobsburg State Park in this candid, infrared image I shot on a mid-June afternoon at the park that spans between Wind Gap and Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

Henry’s Woods offers very scenic hikes and the rest of the center grounds have multi-use trails.

Jacobsburg State Park offers environmental education programs from the preschool environmental awareness programs to high school level environmental problem solving programs, historical programs, teacher workshops and public interpretive programs.

The park surrounds the Bushkill Creek, which can be seen winding through this sun dappled landscape.

The original land for the center was purchased by the Department of Forests and Waters from the City of Easton in 1959. In 1969, additional land was purchased using funds from Project 70. This brought the total land area of the center to its present size of 1,168 acres.
