And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind ...

“Listen easy, you can hear God calling
Walking barefoot by the stream …
And the time will be our time
And the grass won’t pay no mind …

The moment we’re living is now
Now now now now now now now…

And the time will be our time
And the grass won’t pay no mind
No the grass won’t pay no mind.”

~ “And The Grass Won’t Pay No Mind”
~ Words & Music by Neil Diamond
~ recorded by the great Elvis Presley
      ~ 1969

And the grass won’t pay no mind on a sweet and warm late spring evening as the light of sunset filters through the lush, tall grass with a tranquil hush in early June at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Carousel ...

“There’s a time in each year
That we always hold dear,
Good old summer time;
With the birds and the trees-es,
And sweet scented breezes…
And life is a beautiful rhyme …
Those days full of pleasure
We now fondly treasure …
In the good old summer time
In the good old summer time …”

~ “In The Good Old Summer Time”
~ American Tin Pan Alley song
music by George Evans, lyrics by Ren Shields
                                ~ 1902

What better way to while away the hours in the good old summer time then taking a spin on the historic Weona Park Carousel, Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania?

The Weona Park Carousel, also known as Dentzel Stationary Menagerie Carousel, and its pavilion were built in 1923. The carousel is housed in a wooden, one story, pavilion measuring 20 feet high at center and 80 feet in diameter, with 24 sections each 10 feet 6 inches wide.

The carousel has 44 animals and two sleighs standing three abreast. They were originally hand carved and painted in the 1890s, circa 1905 and circa 1917. The carousel has a Wurlitzer organ, opus 146. It was constructed by the Dentzel Carousel Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

And it’s just one dollar to ride!

The carousel was added to the National Register of Historic Places August 4, 1999.

Country Line Dancing ...

“Sweet days of summer, the jasmine’s in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune …

Summer breeze, makes me feel fine,
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind …”
                                  “Summer Breeze”
                              ~ Seals & Croft
                                           ~ 1972

The sight of laundry dancing on the clothesline in the gentle summer breeze “dresses up” the countryside of Kempton, Pennsylvania on a beautiful June afternoon.

The Blue Moon Hops ...

“Blue moon, blue moon, blue moon
Keep shining bright,
Blue moon, keep on shining bright
You’re gonna bring me back my baby tonight,
Blue moon, keep shining bright.

I said Blue Moon of Kentucky
keep on shining …”
                                ~ “Blue Moon of Kentucky”
~ recorded by the great Elvis Presley
                                             ~ 1954
The Blue Moon Brewing Company helps keep spirits shining bright at the 10th annual Blues, Brews & Barbecue in downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania June 10, 2017 … a tad before summer but a great way to kick off the season with the sounds of the blues & the taste of brews and barbecue!

I blended a street scene photo I shot at the festival of a Blue Moon beer truck with a Blue Moon I captured shining over Cedar Creek Parkway, Allentown on July 31, 2015.

A Blue Moon is defined as any time there is a second full moon in a calendar month, according to NASA. The next will occur January 2, 2018.

“Blue Moon of Kentucky” is the official Bluegrass song of Kentucky, written by Bill Monroe, “The Father of Bluegrass,” in 1946.

The great Elvis Presley – an artist who occurs “once in a blue moon,” – recorded his fantastic rockabilly version in 1954.

Texture by Jai Johnson added for artistic effect.
