Sunset Blazes Hopewell Lake ...

“We wanderers, ever seeking the lonelier way,
begin no day where we have ended another day,
and no sunrise finds us
where sunset has left us.”
                                ~ Khalil Gibran
                                          ~ 1883-1931

Sunset blazes across Hopewell Lake on a glorious, golden summer evening at French Creek State Park, Elverson, Pennsylvania.

The 7,526 acre park straddles northern Chester County and southern Berks County along French Creek and is located in the Hopewell Big Woods.

Set amidst the old, quaint and picturesque farmland of southeast Pennsylvania, French Creek State Park offers two lakes – Hopewell and Scotts Run – extensive forests and almost 40 miles of hiking trails. Adjacent to the park lies Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site that features a cold-blast furnace restored to its 1830s appearance.

French Creek State Park was chosen by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and its Bureau of State Parks as one of “25 Must-See Pennsylvania State Parks.”

Winterlude At Robin Hood Dell ...

than the heart can imagine."

Let The Sun Shine In ...

"This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius ...
Let the sun shine in
Open up your heart and let it
shine on in ..."
                       ~ "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In"
                                           ~ "Hair"
                                                     ~ 1967

When I saw these almost magical sunflares
just before sunset at Trexler Memorial Park,
Allentown, Pennsylvania, I thought of the song
"Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In." I shot this
just a little while before the Supermoon in August.

A man takes in the silent beauty of a summer
golden hour at Leaser Lake, New Tripoli, Pennsylvania.
The lake's namesake is Frederick Leaser, who in
September 1777 with his farm team hauled
The Liberty Bell from Philadelphia to Allentown where it was concealed
in Zion Reformed Church. His homestead is located one mile

Bridging Sunset ...

"Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses,
which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus."
          ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
                       ~1803-1882

Sunset hues begin to steal across the summer sky over Easton, Pennsylvania as viewed from across the Delaware River in Phillipsburg, New Jersey next to the historic Northampton Street Bridge, commonly called The Free Bridge.

The bridge that spans the states was completed in 1896 and survived damage from massive flooding from Hurricane Diane in 1955. It underwent a thorough restoration in 1990.

All That Heaven Allows ...

"Sunsets are so beautiful that they almost seem as if we were
looking through the gates of heaven." ~ John Lubbock

The gorgeous sky just before sunset last night at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, PA reminded me of the title of the 1955 movie, "All That Heaven Allows."

Painter's Brush

"Painting is the silence of thought and the music of light."
                                                     ~ Orhan Pamuk

It seems as if a painter's brush swept across the sky
to create tonight's sunset at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Brushstrokes ...

                                 ~ John Ruskin

Sunset was like a painting in the sky yesterday at Trexler Memorial Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Winter Gold

"Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky."

The Painted Stream

"Sunlight is painting."
                                  ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

Sunlight seems to paint the water with tinges of gold just before sunset in October at
Lehigh Parkway, Allentown, Pennsylvania.
